EBM: Where were you born and raised?
Michelle Bernard: I was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and raised in Miami, FL.
EBM: Miami, other wise known as a bachelor’s paradise?
Ms. Bernard: That’s what I hear. And rightfully so, there’s a lot of beautiful women there.
EBM: You seem to be the new “it” girl; your images are everywhere, commercials, videos, magazines. How long have you been modeling?
Ms. Bernard: I’ve been modeling for almost 10 yrs,
EBM: That’s a long time.
Ms. Bernard: Yeah, it’s a commitment. You really have to be committed to this profession in order for it to pay off; it’s a constant grind.
EBM: What are some of your other hobbies?
Ms. Bernard: I definitely enjoy spending time with family and friends. I am also starting my own lingerie line so most of my free time consists of getting that off the ground.
EBM: Lingerie line. How did that come about?
Ms. Bernard: Without giving away too much, it was something I’d been working on for some time, and through the grace of God all of the pieces just came together.
EBM: How important is education to you?
Ms. Bernard: Education is very important. Some of the best advice I can give to young women is to get an education and be passionate about what you’re studying and enjoy that time of learning.
EBM: Did you go to college?
Ms. Bernard: Yes, I went to FIU (Florida International University)
EBM: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Ms. Bernard: In 5 yrs I see myself doing it all: running a successful business, and taking care of my family, husband and children.
EBM: What are some of the qualities you look for in a {Black} man?
Ms. Bernard: I like a man to be confident, sincere, driven, accomplished (or on his way), attractive, funny, attentive, and serious about what he wants out of life.
EBM: Do you have any famous female crushes and if so who is she?
Ms. Bernard: Wow…I would have to say I have a secret crush on Rihanna but only cause you asked about a ‘famous female crush”…haha
EBM: What do you have in rotation on your iPod?
Ms. Bernard: TI’s new album and some No Doubt throwbacks. I go through spurts with what I listen to in constant rotation and my mood definitely effects what I like to hear.
EBM: Tell us something that you’ve done in your life that you may not be proud of but have learned from it and have since made better choices?
Ms. Bernard: I have no regrets thus far…I’m not a huge risk taker so most of my decisions Ive evaluated thoroughly before coming to any given decision.
EBM: What do you intend to get out of modeling?
Ms. Bernard: Modeling has helped lay the platform for the woman I have become. I expect this career to continue giving me the drive, confidence, and connections to achieve my future business ventures.
