Making a career in modeling can be as difficult as diffusing an atom bomb blind folded but on occasions there are those who seem to have the skill to endure the hardships of a profession marred in controversy and disappointment. The woman we’re referring to is Kadie Ann Johnson, the 25 year old Miami beauty.

She’s appeared in nearly all of the major print publications and is drawing the attention of casting directors from here to the northern hemisphere. In a sit down with EBM, the curvaceous beauty dispels any misperception about the so called “Video Vixen.”

EBM: You’ve been in the business quite some time now. Are you still enjoying it as much as you did when you started?

Kadie Ann Johnson: I do! But like anything, you have your good days and bad days, though overall the experience has been good.

EBM: Where are you from originally?

Kadie Ann Johnson: I’m from Miami, Florida by way of Jamaica. Both of my parents are Jamaican and most of my family still lives there.

EBM: One of the things that have been mentioned most about you is your naturalness. You have a natural beauty that is breath taking. What do you consider your best feature?

Kadie Ann Johnson: Firstly, thank you for the compliment but in terms of my best feature I think my eyes and/or my smile. Either of those works for me. I like to think of them as my money makers.

EBM: Since Karrin Stephens wrote the book “Confessions of a Video Vixen,” Video models have been getting a lot of negative attention, does that wear on you?

Kadie Ann Johnson: No, not at all! I’m proud of my path. And some make different choices to get to their destination, but for me each step has been well thought-out. I decided upon graduating from college I would pursue my dream of being a model/ actress and thus far everything has gone according to plan. I don’t know Ms. Stephens nor do I know her struggles but I don’t think you can generalize models; her story is her story. What is unfortunate however is that you never hear about the women who used the opportunity to catapult their careers, and these are the majority of women in modeling.

EBM: You mentioned college. Was that important to you, because you don’t necessarily need college to be a model?

Kadie Ann Johnson: Education has been drilled in me since birth. My parents were adamant about me being more than a “pretty face;” they emphasized independence. And the best way to independence is through education.

EBM: Do you have any celebrity crushes?

Kadie Ann Johnson: Hmmm, there are loads of attractive people in the industry, but for me it’s more of a respect thing. And depending on what area of entertainment we’re talking about, the artist change. But I appreciate Kanye, Denzel, Lil Wayne and Jada Pinket-Smith.

EBM: If you could change anything about the modeling business, what would it be?

Kadie Ann Johnson: The negative perception, like all models are just pretty faces with little else going on. We are so much more and many of us are business women, running successful businesses. Other than that I’m enjoying the entire experience. My mother once said you get out what you put in and modeling requires much but the return can be great.
